3 Ramadan 1435: 1 July 2014

Ramadan has a big impact on the lives of everyone living here in the UAE.  Shops and businesses work shorter hours; the industrial area’s hours of work are 9-1.  That is 9am to 1pm – and 9pm to 1am.  It’s amazing how quickly you adapt and get used to it!  Adults are not permitted to eat or drink in public during the hours of daylight, not even in their cars.

I couldn’t resist duplicating a mosque – this was taken from the rooftop of our old villa in Al Khabisi, where we could actually clearly see the minarets of 8 different mosques.
