In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Depth.”
Oman has a fair smattering of plains, sand dunes and mountains, and one of the best known of the latter is “Jebel Shams”, which means “sunny mountain” in arabic.
A good road (complete with crash barriers) leads you well up the mountain, although there are places it is just a well worn track. Once you make it to the summit you can gaze down into this huge canyon, around 800 metres deep – thankfully there’s a barrier these days!
