I was very honoured to be asked by the management of Eastern Motors LLC to organise and run the offroading part of the Jeep FUNatic 2015. Each year they plan to vary the format and this year the area for offroading was around 10kms north of the Camel Roundabout in Al Ain, near one of my favourite places – tree valley.
Of course I can’t run a huge event all on my own so I enlisted the help of some friends to help me scout routes and marshal on the day.
The morning kicked off when we met at Eastern Motors Jeep Showroom in Sanaiya, Al Ain where we were issued with our t-shirts, given a lovely breakfast before a group photo then heading 15kms north to our deflation point.
Once deflated we split into 6 convoys and hit the sand. Each convoy of approximately 12 customers cars with 4 marshals had their own route and the participants were split into groups depending on car type and driving level.
After a couple of hour’s driving we headed back to the Rotana Desert Camp, where we ate a lovely lunch and enjoyed the entertainment which was laid on.
This event was only possible with the help of my friends who marshaled the event! Not all made it to the photos unfortunately but you will no doubt be able to spot them in the general photos in this blog – Neil Bruce, Wasim Shehadah, Vivan Salins, Zach Lojewski, Nicole White, Ludwig Sieber, Sarah Brooks, Andrew Laver and Richard Moss. Thank you one and all!
All in all it was a great day out – good people, nice driving, lovely scenery and a great meal at the end! Hope to see you at the Jeep FUNatic in 2016!
