Rings on My Fingers…..

Not everyone knows this but sometimes I work for TV production companies assisting with research, and one such project took me to the Dubai Souq early last month.  Often you will make a serendipitous find in the search for something else and that is exactly what happened when I walked through the door of Diyhan Jewellery LLC.

This little gem is far removed from the almost garish shops which line the outside of the souq; Diyhan are craftsmen, creating beautiful custom-made jewellery from a variety of metals and precious stones.

It was a couple of cats lying in the shade of the window which first caught my attention and when I happened to look into the window the manager smiled at me in invitation to enter the shop.

He carefully explained to me the different qualities of gold available in Dubai, showing me some of the beautiful work they have been commissioned to do.  Shiv asked to see my wedding ring and I originally thought he was going to value it for me but instead it was whipped away into the workroom upstairs, returning cleaned and polished and looking like new just 15 minutes later!

A few weeks later I returned with a damaged eternity ring (my ex-fireman husband had to cut it off my swollen finger using a dremel multi-tool, many years ago) along with a white gold ring that needed enlarging by, wait for it, 7 sizes.  I also had him quote me for copying a necklace I had seen in a magazine, in silver plated with matt black rhodium.  Shiv’s price seemed reasonable so the deal was done and my jewellery was ready for collection just three days later.

I am so chuffed with Diyhan – first of all the transaction with Shiv was done calmly and politely, he impressed me greatly with his knowledge not only of the metals but also of what would work best for my jewellery and me.  Their craftsmen are amazing too; you have to look very hard to see the joins on both the rings and they came back to me as shiny and beautiful as the day my husband Neil gave them to me.

Thank you to Shiv and the team – I will definitely be back!
