In response to this week’s theme of Monochromatic
Many people think that we inhabitants of the deserts in the Middle East, experience perpetual sunshine. This is not true, we have quite changeable weather, with occasional thunderstorms, hailstorms (brief, and the hailstones melt quickly) and sandstorms. The worst sandstorm I have ever seen descended on the final day of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2015 – it was so bad visibility was down to about 50 metres in places, and that day’s racing was cancelled.
This picture is of “my” Eurosport cameraman as he stood by the side of the road to film the bikes and cars as they made their way back to rally HQ at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The weather was so severe that I sat in the car and let him get on with it!
