شوف (arabic) shoof: look! see! (english)
Oman is one of the hottest global holiday destinations at the moment with visitors jetting in from the far corners of the globe to enjoy some winter sunshine and many base themselves in one of the beautiful 4 and 5 star hotels springing up along the coastline. As expats living in the UAE we have been very fortunate in that it is very easy for us to cross the border to enjoy this wonderful country, but not all take the plunge and wild camp as we do; expats keen to leave the hussle and bussle of the UAE’s cities behind often opt for a resort stay and some are so good that their guests do not leave their grounds! This is such a pity as the Sultanate of Oman is a wonderful, diverse country with deserts, mountains, and rivers as well as vibrant cities and towns waiting to be explored!
If someone asked me to define Oman by just one photo I would find it impossible; I will share some of my favourites encompassing the beautiful, the awesome or just plain bizarre – once you have seen all these things then you too will have truly “seen” Oman!
Oman is famous for its turtles; there are seven different species worldwide and five of these swim thousands of kilometres to lay their eggs on sandy beaches lapped by the Indian Ocean.
